Diagnostic Procedures
- If QUICK TEST was not performed, go to QUICK TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If QUICK TEST was performed, go to next step.
- Check For Missing Or Leaking Fuel Filler Cap - Check for missing or loose fuel filler cap. Check fuel filler cap for cross threading. If a problem is found, repair or replace component as necessary. After repair, go to next step. If a problem is not found, go to step 4 .
- EVAP System Leak Test - Perform EVAP System Leak Test. Refer to FUEL EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - B2300, B3000, B4000 & TRIBUTE article. If EVAP System Leak Test is okay, go to step 5 . If EVAP System Leak Test is not okay, leakage is still present. Go to DTC P0455, DTC P0456 OR DTC P1443 EVAP SYSTEM - MALFUNCTION.
- Drive Cycle - Reconnect all connectors. Using scan tool, clear DTC from PCM memory. Perform EVAP RUNNING LOSS SYSTEM REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLE in MONITOR REPAIR VERIFICATION DRIVE CYCLES under DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURES. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC P0455 and P0457 are not present, go to next step. If DTC P0455 and P0457 are present, go to DTC P0455, DTC P0456 OR DTC P1443 EVAP SYSTEM - MALFUNCTION.
- Verify Trouble Shooting Of DTCs Completed - Perform QUICK TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any DTC is present, go to applicable procedure for other DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTC is present, trouble shooting is complete. Advise customer to properly tighten fuel filler cap after refueling.
