Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Record freeze frame data. Check for service bulletins and on-line information. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to next step.
  2. Check Knock Signal Circuit For Open Circuit -  Turn ignition off. Disconnect KS harness connector. Turn ignition on, engine off. Measure voltage in Blue/White wire between ground and KS harness connector terminal "A". See appropriate wiring diagram under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If about 5 volts is not present, go to next step. If about 5 volts is present, go to step  4.
  3. Check PCM Connector -  Disconnect PCM 104-pin harness connector. Check for damaged, loose or corroded terminals. If problem is present, repair terminal or connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  5. If terminal or connector problem is not present, repair or replace wire harness for open circuit. After repair, go to step  5.
  4. Check Knock Sensor -  Measure resistance between KS terminal "A" and sensor body. If resistance is about 560,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not about 560,000 ohms, replace KS. After repair, go to next step.
  5. Verify Trouble Shooting Of DTC P0328 Completed -  Reconnect all components. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool, clear DTC. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine. Recheck DTCs. If DTC P0328 is present, replace PCM. After repair, go to next step. If DTC P0328 is not present, go to next step.
  6. Verify After Repair Procedure -  Using scan tool, perform After Repair Procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no other DTCs are present, testing is complete. If any other DTC is present, go to applicable test and repair.
