Removal Note

Remove the steering column. See STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
Remove the screws (1) and position the parking brake release handle (2) aside.

Disconnect the brake pedal position (BPP) switch connector.

If equipped, disconnect the clutch pedal position (CPP) switch connector.

Remove the right hand and left hand scuff plates.
Remove both A-pillartrim panels.
Remove both front side trim panels.
Remove the instrument panel fuse panel opening door.
From inside the engine compartment, disconnect the engine compartment fuse box from the bracket and position aside.
Remove the bulkhead wiring harness from inside the engine compartment.

Remove the bulkhead connector insulator.

Unclip the bulkhead connectors from the dash panels.

Remove the instrument panel valance panel.
Release the air bag diagnostic monitor locking tab (1).
Disconnect the air bag diagnostic monitor connector (2).

Remove the passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
Disconnect the blend door actuator connector.

Disconnect the climate control vacuum harness connector.

Disconnect the radio antenna cable in-line connector.

Raise and secure the glove compartment.
- Press the release tabs inward while raising the glove compartment.
Disconnect the electrical connectors and the ground wires on the right hand cowl panel.

Remove the instrument panel brace bolt under the steering column.

Remove the right hand instrument panel cowl side bolt.

Remove the left hand instrument panel cowl side bolts.

Position the instrument panel away from the dash panel.
Disconnect the instrument panel to main harness.

NOTE:
- Two technicians are required to perform this step.
Remove the instrument panel.
- If necessary, transfer the components to the new instrument panel.
