Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the intake manifold.
    NOTE:
    • One connector is shown, the other five are similar.
  2. Disconnect the six fuel injector electrical connectors.

  3. Remove the bolt.

  4. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.

  5. Disconnect the radio interference capacitor electrical connector.

  6. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) and the water temperature indicator sender unit electrical connectors.

  7. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.

  8. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
  9. Disconnect the generator wiring and position the wiring aside.

  10. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

  11. Remove the wiring anchors and position the wiring aside.

  12. Raise and support the vehicle.
  13. Disconnect the transmission portion of the wiring harness.
    1. Disconnect the RH and the LH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connectors.
    2. Disconnect the transmission control connector.
    3. Disconnect the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor electrical connector.
    4. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.

  14. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  15. Release the transmission/transfer case portion of the wiring harness from any routing clips or pushpins.
  16. Route the transmission/transfer case portion of the wiring harness to the top of the engine.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Remove the wiring harness from the vehicle.
  19. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
