PINPOINT TEST 1		KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR Key ON. With the driver door opened, observe the door ajar warning indicator. Does the door ajar warning indicator operate correctly?	Yes	Go to next step.
1		No	See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER to continue diagnosis of the door ajar indicator.
2	CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER KEY-IN-IGNITION PID Key ON. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: - Instrument Cluster PID Monitor the instrument cluster key-in-ignition PID with the key in the ignition lock cylinder and the key out of the ignition lock cylinder. Does the PID indicate IN with the key in the ignition lock cylinder and OUT with the key removed from the ignition lock cylinder?	Yes	Go to step 7.
2		No	If the PID continuously indicates OUT, go to next step. If the PID continuously indicates IN, go to step 5.
3	CHECK CIRCUIT (B/P) FOR AN OPEN Key OFF. Disconnect: Instrument cluster 0922-102. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - FUNCTIONAL or see IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - NON FUNCTIONAL . Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 4, circuit (B/P), harness side and the key-in-ignition warning switch, circuit (B/P), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?	Yes	Go to next step.
3		No	Repair circuit (B/P) for an open. Test the system for normal operation.
4	CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING SWITCH FOR AN OPEN Install the ignition lock cylinder. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - FUNCTIONAL or see IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - NON FUNCTIONAL . Insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder. Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 4, circuit (B/P), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?	Yes	Go to step 7.
4		No	Install a new key-in-ignition warning switch. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - FUNCTIONAL . Test the system for normal operation.
5	CHECK CIRCUIT (B/P) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Key OFF. Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder. Disconnect: Instrument cluster 0922-102. Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 4, circuit (B/P), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?	Yes	Go to step 7.
5		No	Go to next step.
6	CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING SWITCH FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Remove the ignition lock cylinder. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - FUNCTIONAL or see IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - NON FUNCTIONAL . Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 4, circuit (B/P), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?	Yes	Install a new key-in-ignition warning switch. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - FUNCTIONAL . Test the system for normal operation.
6		No	Repair circuit (B/P) for a short to ground. Test the system for normal operation.
7	CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors. Check for: - corrosion - pushed-out pins Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present?	Yes	Install a new instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . Test the system for normal operation.
7		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
