PINPOINT TEST 9 FUEL PUMP INSPECTION
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK FUEL PUMP FOR OPERATION
  • Verify that the battery is fully charged.
  • Verify that the fuel tank unit connector 0114-02 is securely connected.
  • Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO).
  • Connect WDS or equivalent tester to DLC and select Active Command Mode.
  • Select OUTPUT TEST MODE.
  • Press MODE to change to ALL ON mode, and press START to run fuel pump.
  • Listen to the fuel pump to verify operation.
  • Turn relay off.
  • Did the fuel pump operate?
Yes Fuel pump is operating.

No Go to next step.
2 CHECK FUEL PUMP FOR CONTINUITY
  • Disconnect fuel tank unit connector 0114-02.
  • Check for continuity between fuel tank unit power P/B and ground B terminals at the fuel tank unit.
  • Is continuity present? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Replace fuel pump.

3 CHECK VOLTAGE AT FUEL PUMP VEHICLE HARNESS CONNECTED
  • Connect WDS or equivalent tester to DLC.
  • Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO).
  • Select Active Command Mode.
  • Select OUTPUT TEST MODE.
  • Press MODE to change to "ALL ON" mode, and press START to run fuel pump.
  • Measure the voltage at the power terminal of the fuel tank unit connector 0114-02.
  • Is voltage greater than 10.5 volts? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Check fuel pump relay and fuel pump shutoff switch.
4 CHECK FUEL PUMP GROUND CIRCUIT
  • Fuel tank unit connector 0114-02 disconnected.
  • Measure resistance between tank unit connector 0114-02 ground terminal and chassis ground.
  • Is resistance less than 1 ohm? 
Yes Ground circuit is OK.
Check fuel pump.
No Repair open circuit on connector to chassis ground circuit.
