Oil Pressure Test
- Disconnect and remove the oil pressure sensor from the engine.
- Connect Engine Oil Pressure Gauge and Transmission Test Adapter SST 49 0187 280 or equivalent to the oil pressure switch oil galley port.
- Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Run the engine at 3, 000 rpm and record the gauge reading.
- The oil pressure should be within specifications 276-414 kPa (40-60 psi) (hot @ 2, 000 rpm).
- If the pressure is not within specification, check the following possible sources:
- Insufficient oil
- Oil leakage
- Worn or damaged oil pump
- Oil pump screen cover and tube
- Excessive main bearing clearance
- Excessive connecting rod bearing clearance
