Propeller Shaft Indexing

NOTE:
  • If propeller shaft components are replaced and propeller shaft vibration is encountered after installation, index the propeller shaft.

    If indexing the propeller shaft does not eliminate the vibration, balance the propeller shaft; see PROPELLER SHAFT RUNOUT AND BALANCE  .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the rear propeller shaft. See PROPELLER SHAFT REAR (4X2) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  or See PROPELLER SHAFT REAR (4X4) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  .
  3. Rotate the rear companion flange.

  4. Connect the propeller shaft.

  5. Lower the vehicle and test drive.
  6. Repeat procedure if necessary.
