Axle Assembly Front Removal / Installation

- Remove the front drive axle shaft; see Drive Shaft, Front Axle Removal / Installation .
- Index the front propeller shaft to the companion flange.
NOTE:
- Do not allow the propeller shaft to hang unsupported.
- Disconnect the front driveshaft from the companion flange.
- Remove the four bolts and remove the universal joint spider retainers.
- Disconnect the driveshaft.
- Position the driveshaft aside.
- Disconnect the axle vent tube.
- Support the axle with a suitable jack.
- Remove the left front axle to frame bolt and nut.
- Remove the other two axle to frame bolts and nuts.
- Remove the axle.CAUTION:
- It is important to install the spacer, between the pinion arm bushing and the frame, in the same position as when removed.
NOTE:- Use new fasteners when installing the front axle.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
