Normal Operation
Under normal operation, the driver window control switch is supplied voltage through circuit (GY/Y). When the driver window control switch is commanding the driver window down, voltage is sent to the driver window motor through circuit (Y/V). Ground for the driver window motor is provided by the driver window control switch through circuit (L/GY). When up is commanded, voltage and ground from the driver window control switch is reversed.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Driver window control switch
- Driver window motor
- Smart junction box (SJB)

ACTION |
| 1 |
CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Driver Window Control Switch connector 0912-201.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between driver window control switch 0912-201 pin 5, circuit (GY/Y) harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
|
Yes |
Go to step 4. |
| No |
Go to next step. |
| 2 |
CHECK CIRCUIT (GY/Y) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: SJB J-2280c.
- Measure the resistance between driver window control switch 0912-201 pin 5, circuit (GY/Y) harness side and SJB J-2280c pin 16, circuit (GY/Y) harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
|
Yes |
Go to next step. |
| No |
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. |
| 3 |
CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect: all SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- damaged pins.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
|
Yes |
INSTALL a new SJB. See Smart Junction Box (SJB)
. TEST the system for normal operation. |
| No |
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. |

CHECK THE DRIVER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Key in ON position.
- Connect a 30A fused jumper wire between driver window control switch:
- 0912-201 pin 7, circuit (GY/Y) harness side and power window motor, driver side front 0912-201 pin 5, circuit (L/GY) harness side.
- 0912-201 pin 1, circuit (YA/) harness side and power window motor, driver side front 0912-201 pin 2, circuit (B/L) harness side. The window should operate in the upward direction.
- Connect a 30A fused jumper wire between driver window control switch:
- 0912-201 pin 7, circuit (GY/Y) harness side and power window motor, driver side front 0912-201 pin 1, circuit (YA/) harness side.
- 0912-201 pin 5, circuit (L/GY) harness side and power window motor, driver side front 0912-201 pin 2, circuit (B/L) harness side. The window should operate in the downward direction.
- Does the window operate correctly?
|
Yes |
INSTALL a new driver window control switch. TEST the system for normal operation. |
| No |
Go to step 5. |
| 5 |
CHECK CIRCUITS (YA/) AND (L/GY) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Driver Window Motor connector 0912-204.
- Measure the resistance between driver window control switch 0912-201 pin 1, circuit (YA/) harness side and driver window motor 0912-204 pin 2, circuit (YA/) harness side; and between driver window control switch 0912-201 pin 5, circuit (L/GY) harness side and driver window motor 0912-204 pin 1, circuit (L/GY) harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
|
Yes |
INSTALL a new driver window motor. See Front Door Window Regulator And Motor
. TEST the system for normal operation. |
| No |
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. |
