No. 6 Programming Procedure Due to Key Cylinder (Including Key): Procedure

NO. 6 PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE DUE TO KEY CYLINDER (INCLUDING KEY)

Step Procedure Action after procedure
1 REPLACE KEY CYLINDER
Replace the key cylinder.
(See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Go to the next step.
2 PERFORM KEY ID NUMBER CLEARING
  1. Connect the M-MDS (IDS) to the DLC-2. (See M-MDS (IDS) CONNECTING PROCEDURE .)
  2. Switch the ignition ON using the key to be programmed.
    NOTE:
    • Although the security indicator light starts flashing and DTC 15 is displayed after approx. 1 min, continue to perform the procedure as indicated.
  3. After vehicle identification, select the following from the M-MDS initial screen.
  • Using an IDS (laptop PC):
  1. "Body"
  2. "Security"
  3. "PATS (immobilizer) function"
  4. Then, select the "Auxiliary Key Program/Clear" from the screen menu.
  5. Perform the security access according to the directions on the M-MDS (IDS) screen.
  6. Clear the key ID number according to the directions on the M-MDS (IDS).
Go to the next step.
3 PERFORM KEY ID NUMBER PROGRAMMING
  1. Program two keys according to the directions on the M-MDS (IDS).
  2. After verifying that the PATS function menu is displayed again on the M-MDS (IDS) screen, select "Finish (this menu)".
  3. Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).
  4. Disconnect the M-MDS (IDS) from the DLC-2.
Go to the next step.
4 VERIFY PROGRAMMING IS PERFORMED CORRECTLY
  1. Verify that the engine can be started with all the keys for approx. 5 s or more.
  2. Can the engine be started?
    NOTE:
    • When verifying that the engine starts, wait approx. 5 s or more before starting the engine using the next key.
Yes Procedure is completed.
No Perform the corresponding DTC inspection to repair the malfunctioning part.
