DTC P0791:00 (FS5A-EL) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

Intermediate sensor circuit malfunction |
| DETECTION CONDITION |
- Under the following conditions, intermediate sensor signal is not input for 5 s
- Selector lever position is D or M position
- Vehicle speed is 40 km/h {25 mph} or more
Diagnostic support note
- The check engine light illuminates if the TCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
- The automatic transaxle warning light illuminates if the TCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
- PENDING CODE is available.
- FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
- The DTC is stored in the TCM memory.

| POSSIBLE CAUSE |
- Intermediate sensor connector or terminal malfunction
- Open circuit in wiring harness between intermediate sensor terminal A and AT main relay terminal C
- Short to GND in wiring harness between intermediate sensor terminal A and AT main relay terminal C
- Short to GND in wiring harness between intermediate sensor terminal B and TCM terminal AC
- Short to power supply in wiring harness between intermediate sensor terminal B and TCM terminal AC
- Open circuit in wiring harness between intermediate sensor terminal C and body GND
- Intermediate sensor malfunction
- TCM connector or terminal malfunction
- Open circuit in wiring harness between intermediate sensor terminal B and TCM terminal AC
- TCM malfunction
