Using M-MDS

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Mazda 3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
  2. After vehicle identification is completed, select the following from the M-MDS initial screen.
    1. "Powertrain"
    2. "Engine Oil Maintenance Monitor"
  3. Select "ON*1" or "OFF" from the M-MDS screen.

*1 : When oil inspection/replacement is set to "ON", the engine oil deterioration condition is calculated based on the frequency of engine starts and the distance travelled. Because the engine oil deterioration condition cannot be calculated correctly if engine oil other than Mazda genuine oil (0W-20) or Castrol oil (0W-20) is used, use Mazda genuine oil (0W-20) or Castrol oil (0W-20) when setting the oil inspection/replacement to "ON".
