Rear Stabilizer Installation (AWD): Notes

CAUTION:
  • Install the rear stabilizer being careful for the following so as not to decrease the functionality of the rear stabilizer.
    • Do not apply grease to the rear stabilizer bushing and rear stabilizer contact area.
    • Verify that there is no dirt or oil on the front stabilizer bushing and the rear stabilizer.
      • Wipe off any dirt or oil using a clean rag.
  1. Install the rear stabilizer bushing with the slit pointing toward the front of the vehicle.

  2. Install the rear stabilizer bracket to the front stabilizer bushing by hand using the following procedure.
  3. During rear stabilizer bracket installation, keep the deviation in the positions of the rear stabilizer bracket and the rear stabilizer bushing within the range shown in the figure. (Refer to REAR STABILIZER BRACKET INSTALLATION NOTE .)

    • W1 : 0.5 mm {0.21 in} max.
    • W2 : 2 mm {0.08 in} max.
  4. After installing the rear stabilizer bracket, verify that the positions of the rear stabilizer bracket and the rear stabilizer bushing are within the range shown in the figure.

    • H1 : 13 mm {0.51 in} max.
    • H2 : 13 mm {0.51 in} max.
  5. After installing the rear stabilizer bracket, verify that the right and left-side positions of the rear stabilizer bracket are within the range shown in the figure.

    • H3 : 3 mm {0.1 in} max.
  6. Place the rear stabilizer component on a level workbench, and verify that it is within the range shown in the figure.

    • H4 : 36.8-56.8 mm {1.45-2.23 in}
  7. Assemble the rear stabilizer component so that the identification mark is on the right side of the vehicle.

  8. Temporarily tighten nuts A and B shown in the figure.

  9. Tighten nut A.

    Tightening torque 

    • 21-26 N.m {2.2-2.6 kgf.m, 16-19 ft.lbf}
  10. Tighten nut B.

    Tightening torque 

    • 21-26 N.m {2.2-2.6 kgf.m, 16-19 ft.lbf}
  11. Tighten nut A.

    Tightening torque 

    • 21-26 N.m {2.2-2.6 kgf.m, 16-19 ft.lbf}
  12. Lift up the rear crossmember component using a jack and install the rear crossmember installation nuts.

    Tightening torque 

    • 91-111 N.m {9.3-11 kgf.m, 68-81 ft.lbf}
  13. Assemble the following parts: (Refer to SUSPENSION LINKS INSTALLATION NOTE .)
    1. Rear upper arm (Refer to REAR UPPER ARM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (AWD) .)
    2. Rear lateral link (Refer to REAR LATERAL LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  14. Install the following parts:
    1. Protector (Refer to REAR LATERAL LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear coil spring (Refer to REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Rear stabilizer control link

    4. Propeller shaft (Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. TWC (Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] .)
    6. Strut bar.

    7. Tunnel member
    8. Brace bar
    9. Floor under cover No. 1 (Refer to FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Floor under cover No. 2 (Refer to FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  15. Assemble the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector.

  16. Assemble the rear differential breather hose.

  17. Assemble the wiring harness clips and connectors shown in the figure.

  18. Assemble the auto leveling sensor link.

  19. Install the wheels and tires. (Refer to WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  20. Connect the negative battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  21. Inspect the wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (Refer to REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT .)
  22. Perform the headlight auto leveling system initial setting. (Refer to HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION .)
