DTC P2B58-00: Coolant Control Valve Circuit Problem: Notes

DTC P2B58:00 PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.5 - WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION) DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

DTC P2B58:00 Coolant Control Valve Circuit Problem
DETECTION CONDITION
  • Engine coolant control valve actuator drive current exceeds the specification.

Diagnostic support note
  • This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
  • The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA/Snapshot data is available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
  • Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.
  • PCM restricts engine torque.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
  • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor connector or terminals malfunction
  • PCM connector or terminals malfunction
  • Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
    • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor terminal A-PCM terminal 1CW
      • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor terminal B-PCM terminal 1CX
  • Open circuit in wiring harness between the following terminals:
    • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor terminal A-PCM terminal 1CW
      • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor terminal B-PCM terminal 1CX
  • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor circuits are shorted to each other
  • Short to power supply in wiring harness between the following terminals:
    • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor terminal A-PCM terminal 1CW
      • Coolant control valve/coolant control valve position sensor terminal B-PCM terminal 1CX
  • Coolant control valve malfunction
  • PCM malfunction
