Engine Removal

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
- Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the front under cover No. 1 and No. 2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) (See FRONT UNDER COVER No. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
- Drain the water-cooled charge air cooler coolant. (See WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLER COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
- Drain the ATF.
- Remove the front wheels and tires. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the following parts as a single unit: (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
.)
- Air hose
- Air cleaner cover
- Air cleaner element
- Air cleaner case
- Fresh-air duct
- Remove the nut, clips and connectors shown in the figure, and set the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the air inlet pipe. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the turbocharger air outlet pipe. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the selector cable. (See SELECTOR CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
- Disconnect the brake vacuum hose. (See VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the clip shown in the figure.
- Disconnect the evaporative hose. (See PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the fuel hose. (See QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR (FUEL SYSTEM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Disconnect the Upper radiator hose (Air separate tank side).
- Disconnect the water hoses shown in the figure.
- Remove the bolt and set the water hose bracket aside.
- Disconnect the water hose shown in the figure.
- Disconnect the water hose shown in the figure.
- Remove the lower radiator hose using the following procedure:
- Disconnect the clip and lower radiator hose shown in the figure.
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
- Disconnect the clip and lower radiator hose shown in the figure.
- Disconnect the heater hoses.
- Remove the generator drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the front crossmember component and the No. 1 engine mount rubber as a single unit. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
- Remove the A/C compressor with the cooler hose still connected and secure it using wire or rope so that it is out of the way. (See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN Y] .)
- Remove the TWC. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
- Disconnect the front drive shaft (LH) from the transaxle side and set the drive shaft (LH) out of the way. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
- Remove the front drive shaft (RH). (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
- Remove the coolant reserve tank. (See COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the bolt and set the ground cable aside.
- Remove in the order indicated in the table.
