DESCRIPTION

If the right-side Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) control module is replaced for any reason, it is also necessary to replace the left-side BSM control module in order to complete the radar aiming procedure. If the right-side BSM control module is replaced alone, "Automatic Configuration" and "BSM Radar Aiming" cannot be completed due to a programming error in the module.

Other possible symptoms that may be found if the right-side BSM module is replaced alone:

BSM aiming fails
"BSM OFF" indicator ON
Center Display warning message
BSM failsafe (No operation)
DTC U3000:54 stored in memory
DTC U1A4B:54 stored in memory (CX-3, MX-5 only)

WARRANTY INFORMATION

The following Warranty Information is for Customer Satisfaction purpose only and to be used only under the following conditions:

The right sensor is replaced, as customer pay item, such as the right sensor is damaged during a traffic accident.
The Vehicle is still within its New Vehicle Limited Warranty 36 months/36,000 miles.

Claim Submission will require the following documentation:

Copy of Customer Pay Repair Order showing customer was not charged for the BSM Control Module - use Attachment ID = D01 - Copy of Current Repair Order (Front and Back).

NOTE: If the right-side BSM control module replacement is necessary at customer expense because of body shop repair, the part cost of the left-side BSM will be reimbursed under special warranty treatment. Submit the claim with the following information.

NOTE:

This repair will be covered under Mazda's New Vehicle Limited Warranty term.
Labor Time is not allowable for this claim.
