Driver-Side Floor Mat Installation: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Mazda CX-30. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
  • Use of non Mazda genuine floor mats, or floor mats designed for vehicle models other than those in which the mats will be used, may cause various safety and performance-related issues.
  • Make sure the floor mat is hooked on the retention pins to prevent it from bunching up under the foot pedals. Using a floor mat that is not secured is dangerous as it may interfere with the accelerator and brake pedal operation, which could result in an accident.
  • Do not install two floor mats, one on top of the other, on the driver's side. Installing two floor mats, one on top of the other, on the driver's side is dangerous as the retention pins can only keep one floor mat from sliding forward. When using a heavy duty floor mat for winter use, always remove the original floor mat. Loose floor mat(s) may interfere with the foot pedals and could result in an accident.
  1. Temporarily place the floor mat on the floor on the driver's side and position it.
  2. Secure the floor mat at the 2 securing pin locations and install.
