Cargo Compartment Light Bulb Removal/Installation

CAUTION:
  • If the cargo compartment light bulb is removed without disconnecting the negative battery terminal, the circuit may be shorted and the related parts such as the rear body control module (RBCM) may be damaged. Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before removing the cargo compartment light bulb.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
    CAUTION:
    • When inserting the remover tool in the gap between the cargo compartment light and lens, the remover tool could interfere with the liftgate lower trim and scratch or damage it. When removing the lens from the cargo compartment light, apply protective tape to the liftgate lower trim.
  2. To prevent scratches, apply protective tape to the position shown in the figure.

  3. Insert a remover tool into the gap between the lens and cargo compartment light shown in the figure.

  4. Move the remover tool in the direction of arrow shown in the figure and detach the lens tabs from the cargo compartment light.
  5. Remove the lens.

  6. Press the spring in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to detach the spring from the cargo compartment light bulb.
    CAUTION:
    • If there is oil or dirt on the surface of the light bulb, excessive heat will build up and the life of the light bulb will be shortened. If the light bulb glass area is touched, wipe off any dirt using a soft cloth dampened with detergent diluted in water (approx. 5 %).
  7. Remove the cargo compartment light bulb.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
