When not using M-MDS

Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the following parts:
1. Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Shift lever knob (MT)
3. Shift panel component (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5. Parking brake lever boot panel (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
6. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
7. Front console panel (See FRONT CONSOLE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the indicator unit with the connector still connected. (See INDICATOR UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
Using a jumper wire, connect indicator unit terminal G and body ground for 5 s or more.

CAUTION:
- If the terminals are mistakenly connected, vehicle damage or fire could occur. When connecting with the jumper wire, thoroughly verify what terminals are being connected to prevent a miss-connection.
Verify that the warning/indicator lights are displayed as shown in the figure.

- If the warning/indicator lights are not as shown in the figure, replace the indicator unit. (See INDICATOR UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
