Condenser Inspection (VIN Y)

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  2. Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY .) (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING (US) .)
  3. Remove the front under cover No. 1. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [(VIN Y) (US)] .)
  5. Remove the following parts:
    1. Plug hole plate (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(VIN Y) (US)] .)
    2. Air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct component (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(VIN Y) (US)] .)
    3. Cooling fan component (See COOLING FAN MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(VIN Y) (US)] .)
    4. Radiator (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(VIN Y) (US)] .)
  6. Remove the condenser. (See CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .)
  7. Inspect the condenser for cracks, damage, and oil leakage.
  8. Visually inspect for bent fins for restriction or foreign matter.
    • If any fins are restricted, remove the foreign matter.
  9. Visually inspect for bent fins.
    • If any fins are bent, use the end of a flathead screwdriver to straighten fins.
