Tie-Rod End Inspection: Notes

  1. Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Remove the tie-rod end. (See TIE-ROD END REPLACEMENT .)
  3. Inspect the tie-rod end for damage and the boot for cracks.

  4. Inspect the tie-rod end for excessive play.
  5. Rotate the ball joint of the tie-rod end 5 times.
  6. Install 2 nuts to the ball joint and measure the rotation torque of the tie-rod end using a torque wrench.
