Instrument Cluster Removal/Installation
WARNING:
- Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. CAUTION:
- When replacing the instrument cluster, perform the configuration to assure that the system operates correctly.
- To replace the instrument cluster, perform the following procedure.
- Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
- Activate the M-MDS and perform the following procedure.
- Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification.
- Press the [Toolbox] tab.
- Press the [Work Support] icon.
- Press [Configuration].
- Press [Run] to perform the configuration.
- Press [IC].
- When [Install the new ECU] is displayed, move to the instrument cluster replacement procedure.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the following parts.
- Driver's front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver's front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver's decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Passenger's decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Driver's lower panel (See DRIVER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Upper column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove screws (1).
- Remove screw (2).
- Remove screw (3).
- Move the instrument cluster in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and remove it while detaching the clips.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the wiring harness clip.CAUTION:
- If the instrument cluster is left for a long time with its screen facing down, grease applied to the needles may leak out and the needles may not operate smoothly. When storing the instrument cluster, store it with its screen facing upward.
- Remove the instrument cluster.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- If the instrument cluster is replaced, perform the following procedure.
- Return to the M-MDS operation and press [Continue].
- When the M-MDS processing is completed, press [Next].
- When the M-MDS processing is completed, press [Next].
- Verify that the following conditions/operations are met/completed, mark the check boxes, and then press [Next].
- Ignition is switched ON (engine off)
- Install battery charger to vehicle
- Battery voltage: 11.6 V or more
- Connect power cable to M-MDS
- Front doors on both sides and liftgate are open
- Press [Finish].
- Switch the ignition OFF.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off) to complete global central configuration (GCC) for the instrument cluster.
- Clear the DTC. (See CLEARING DTC .)
