Liftgate Light Removal/Installation

NOTE:
  • Fogging or dew condensation may occur on the inside of the liftgate light because of a natural phenomenon occurring as a result of a temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the liftgate light. However, it has no effect on the light performance because the phenomenon is resolved when temperature inside the liftgate light rises after the back-up light turns on or a period of time has elapsed.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the following parts.
    1. Liftgate upper trim (See LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Liftgate side trim (See LIFTGATE SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Liftgate recess (See LIFTGATE RECESS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Power liftgate (PLG) rear switch (with power liftgate) (See POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) REAR SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Liftgate lower trim (See LIFTGATE LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Liftgate garnish (See LIFTGATE GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Rear mount camera (with rear mount camera) (See REAR MOUNT CAMERA REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Rear finisher (See REAR FINISHER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Insert the remover tool into the service hole at the position shown in the figure below.

  4. Move the remover tool in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure below and pull out the service hole cover tab from the bracket.

  5. Pull the service hole cover hook from the bracket and remove the service hole cover.
  6. Perform the following procedure and detach the bracket tab from the liftgate light in the order of (1), (2), (3) and (4).

    1. Insert the remover tool into the gap between the tab of the bracket and the liftgate light.
    2. Pull out the bracket while pressing the tab of the bracket using the remover tool.
  7. Detach all tabs of the bracket from the liftgate light and remove the bracket.
  8. Disconnect the connector.

  9. Remove the nut.
    CAUTION:
    • When removing the liftgate light from the liftgate, the liftgate light may fall off and be damaged. Remove the liftgate light from the liftgate while holding the liftgate light on the lens side by hand.
  10. Push out the liftgate light in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure below and remove the liftgate light.

  11. Remove the grommets from the liftgate.

  12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
