Steering Shift Switch Removal/Installation

WARNING:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
  3. Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.

  5. Remove the screw.

  6. Disconnect the steering shift switch connector.

  7. Release the tab shown in the figure below and remove the steering shift switch.

  8. Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.

  9. Remove the steering wheel cover. (See STEERING WHEEL COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  10. Remove the steering shift switch wiring harness from the steering wheel cover.

  11. Install in the reverse order of removal.
