Active Air Shutter Inspection

NOTE:
  • The integrity of the active air shutter cannot be determined from a single part. When inspecting the active air shutter, perform the following procedure.
  1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
  2. Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
    NOTE:
    • After several seconds have elapsed, the active air shutter fully open/closed position learning is completed.
  3. Perform the KOEO or KOER self-test for the PCM using the M-MDS and verify that PCM DTC P05A0:00, P059F:00, P05C0:00, P05A3:00, or U0284:00 is not output. (See KOEO/KOER SELF TEST [PCM (VIN M (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION))] .) (See KOEO/KOER SELF TEST [PCM (VIN L (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION))] .)
  4. Inspect the active air shutter for foreign material penetration, shutter distortion, sticker adhering, or excessive soiling visually or by touching with a hand.
    • If there is any malfunction, repair the malfunctioning location.
  5. Using the M-MDS simulation function (simulation item: AIRSHUT_DSD), force operate the active air shutter. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (VIN L (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION))] .) (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (VIN M (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION))] .)
    NOTE:
    • If the active air shutter fully open/closed position learning is not completed, the active air shutter cannot be forcibly operated. If the active air shutter is to be forcibly operated, perform the active air shutter fully open/closed position learning.
