Diesel Knock
- Diesel knock can be traced to mechanical causes, diesel fuel properties, or a combination of both. Knock is a pinging noise caused by excessive combustion pressure.
- To eliminate or reduce knock, use recommended fuel. If knock continues, check and/or correct fuel delivery to assure optimum compression temperature and air charge.
- Check valve clearance. Correct nozzle spray pattern and opening pressure. Check reverse flow dampening valve for proper operation. Check compression pressure and perform cylinder leak test.
