Cylinder Block Assembly: Notes

The aluminum alloy cylinders are very sensitive to damage and scratches, as well as contamination. When honing, the cylinder bores must be sized to available pistons. The specified piston clearance must be observed.

In the event of excessive scoring or cylinder wear, the cylinders may be machine bored (if proper procedures are used). When boring or honing cylinders, ensure the "Sunnen Silicone-Lapping" procedure is used. This process exposes the silicone crystals, in the bores, for the pistons to contact.
