Oxygen Sensor R & I

Exhaust gas oxygen (O2) sensor is mounted in the exhaust pipe just below the exhaust header. Before attempting to remove sensor, protect the sensor's permanent pigtail from damage. Ensure sensor is free of contaminants, avoid using cleaning solvents of any type. Sensor removal may be difficult when engine temperature is less than 120°F (49°C). To install, apply anti-seize compound on sensor threads. Turn sensor into exhaust pipe, tightening sensor to 30 ft. lbs. (41 N.m).
