Task
- To improve engine warm-up properties
- To prevent the formation of blue smoke after cold starts
- To improve engine flow following cold starts
- To stabilize cold start speed
Function
After the engine is started, afterglowing takes place for a period dependent on the coolant temperature. The glow output stage (N14/2) receives a signal from the IFI [ERE] control module (N3/7) or DFI [EVE] control module (N3/8) telling it how long the afterglow time should be.
If the coolant temperature (T) is <60°C afterglowing is limited to a maximum of 180 s.
In the event that no signal is received from the coolant temperature sensor (B11), the afterglow time is automatically set to 30 s.
