ABC Operational Check
SERVICE INFORMATION
For vehicles that fall within the described VIN range, please inspect for an orange decal marked ABC located on the left front "A" pillar near the door hinge. If the vehicle does not have this indication, please follow the procedure outlined below.
- ABC System Oil Flushing process: (approx 10 liters new oil required)
- 1.1 Vehicle engine at operating temperature.
- 1.2 Connect DAS Version 8 ! with Patch and access the ABC system.
- 1.3 Read and record DTC data for Warranty Claim text field.
- 1.4 Erase all DTC's in the ABC system.
- 1.5 Do NOT start engine until instructed.
- 1.6 Remove ABC reservoir cap and pull out oil filter.
- 1.7 Using a flashlight, shine the light in through the top opening of the container and view the fluid.
- 1.8 If particles can be seen, or the fluid has a "starlight" effect, then the tank must be cleaned before the flushing process can begin.
- 1.9 Drain the tank by either removing it or using the suction of the oil recovery device. Do not use rags or paper to clean the inside of the tank as contamination may occur.

Refill the ABC tank with clean Pentosin oil.CAUTION: The pump must never run dry or damage to the pump will occur.
- ABC Hot Flush:
- 2.1 Start vehicle.
- 2.2 Enter DAS "Actuations" menu and enter into "Rodeo".
- 2.3 Enter "Rodeo" program by pressing the F3 key.
- 2.4 Observe all four struts while the "Rodeo" program is running.
- 2.5 Let the Rodeo program run to the end, approx 15 min.
- Shut Off Vehicle
- 3.1
Remove the return hose from ABC reservoir and secure the open end of the line into a suitable container.WARNING: Risk of Injury. Use caution as the return flow is strong and Pentosin is both caustic and flammable.
- 3.2
If a drive on lift is available: (If not available, skip to step 3.3)
- 3.2.1 From beneath the vehicle, locate the ABC bleeder screws.
- 3.2.2 Attach a hose to the bleeder screw and drain the ABC oil into a container. Repeat this process at each wheel.
- 3.2.3 WARNING: Use caution as venting each strut causes the vehicle to lower at that corner.
- 3.2.4 Secure all ABC suspension strut bleeder screws and remove the bleeder hose but leave the return tank hose inside a container.
- 3.3 Enter into "Actuations Menu".
- 3.4 Enter into "Regelventiltest".
- 3.5 Conduct this test 5 consecutive times.
- 3.6 Start the vehicle.
- 3.7 Continue to monitor the ABC reservoir tank while conducting the steps below. When the tank has emptied 3/4 you must refill the tank with clean Pentosin oil.
- 3.8 Back out to "Actuations" and enter into "Wanken".
- 3.9 Enter "Wanken" program by pressing the F3 key.
- 3.10 Observe all four struts while the "Wanken" program is running.
- 3.11 If one or more corners are not moving, stop the program by pressing the F4 key and return to the "Regelventiltest". Conduct the "Regelventiletest" 5 consecutive times and then return to this test and run it in its entirety, approx. 15 min.
- 3.12 Back out to "Actuations" and enter into "Nicken".
- 3.13 Enter "Nicken" program by pressing the F3 key.
- 3.14 Observe all four struts while the "Nicken" program is running.
- 3.15 If one or more corners are not moving, stop the program by pressing the F4 key and return to the "Regelventiltest". Conduct the "Regelventiletest" 5 consecutive times and then return to this test and run it in its entirety, approx. 15 min.
- 3.16 Back out to "Actuations" and enter into "Rodeo".
- 3.17 Enter "Rodeo" program by pressing the F3 key.
- 3.18 Observe all four struts while the "Rodeo" program is running.
- 3.19 If one or more corners are not moving, stop the program by pressing the F4 key and return to the "Regelventiltest". Conduct the "Regelventiletest" 5 consecutive times and then return to this test and run it in its entirety, approx. 15 min.
- 3.1
Remove the return hose from ABC reservoir and secure the open end of the line into a suitable container.
- Function Test Verification using the ABC Ride Height Switch:
- 4.1 With DAS disconnected and the engine running, raise the vehicle height to the first level by pressing the top of the ABC level control switch once and observing all four corners of the vehicle for proper movement.
- 4.2 Press the top of the ABC level control switch again to raise the vehicle to the maximum ride height and observe all four corners of the vehicle for proper movement.
- 4.3 Press the bottom of the ABC level control switch once to lower the vehicle ride height and observe all four corners of the vehicle for proper movement.
- 4.4 Press the bottom of the ABC level control switch once again to lower the vehicle ride height and observe all four corners of the vehicle for proper movement.
- 4.5 If an observation of an improper movement is noticed, contact your regional Technical Coordinator for further instructions before continuing with this process.
- Road Test:
- 5.1 Drive the vehicle for approx. 10 minutes
- 5.2 Connect the DAS and read and record DTC data for Warranty Claim text field.
- 5.3 DTC's may be set from conducting the "Rodeo" program. If DTC's are present, attempt to erase them. If they cannot be erased, contact you Regional Technical Coordinator for further instructions.
- 5.4 If no improper movement is noticed, then place an orange decal labeled "ABC" on the left front "A" pillar next to the door hinge.
