PROCEDURE 1 - INSTALLATION OF BOTH AN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND AN EIS WHILE USING STAR DIAGNOSIS VERSION 09/05 OR EARLIER
- Ensure that the latest software update is installed into STAR Diagnosis
- Contact the TAC and obtain password to access total distance storage coding.
- Enter password by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- At the "Category Selection" menu press F6 -> Select Modifications and New Features -> Press F6 -> Enter password in white box -> Press F2
- Install Instrument Cluster as per WIS documentation (AR54.30-P-6015I). Do not perform any version coding.
- Install EIS as per WIS documentation (AR80.57-P-1000M)
- Version code EIS, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Body -> EIS Electronic Ignition Switch -> Initial Startup
- Ensure that "Redundant Distance Storage" is set to Active, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Control Unit Adaptations -> Version Coding -> Coding Specific for Instrument Cluster.
- Synchronize instrument cluster to Drive Authorization system by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Diagnosis to Plant Specifications -> Development Data -> Actuations -> EZS-Schluessel ID in EEPROM schreiben (FN_EZS_ID_schreiben) -> Press F3 to actuate
- Enter total distance of vehicle, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Diagnosis to Plant Specifications -> Development Data -> Control Unit Adaptations -> Control Unit Adaptations (Download) -> Kilometerstand setzen (DL_Kilometer) -> In white space, enter total distance in kilometers -> Press F3 (Result: 1 will appear)
WARNING: Total distance must be entered in kilometers. - Version code instrument cluster by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Initial Start-Up.
PROCEDURE 2 - INSTALLATION OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (VEHICLE ALREADY EQUIPPED WITH AN EIS PART NUMBER PRECEDING A215 545 02 08) WHILE USING STAR DIAGNOSIS VERSION 09/05 OR EARLIER
Perform Procedure 1 except skip Steps 5 and 6.
PROCEDURE 3 - INSTALLATION OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (VEHICLE ALREADY EQUIPPED WITH AN EIS PART NUMBER OF A215 545 02 08 OR LATER) WHILE USING STAR DIAGNOSIS VERSION 09/05 OR EARLIER
- Ensure that the latest software update is installed into STAR Diagnosis
- Ensure that "Redundant Distance Storage" is set to Active, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Control Unit Adaptations -> Version Coding -> Coding Specific for Instrument Cluster.
- Version code instrument cluster by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Initial Start-Up
- When prompted by SDS, install instrument cluster as per WIS documentation (AR54.30-P-6015I)
PROCEDURE 4- INSTALLATION OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHILE USING STAR DIAGNOSIS VERSION 10/05 OR LATER
- Ensure that the latest software update is installed into STAR Diagnosis
- Ensure that "Redundant Distance Storage" is set correctly (Set to Active is EIS equal or greater than A215 545 02 08), by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Control Unit Adaptations -> Version Coding -> Coding Specific for Instrument Cluster.
- Version code instrument cluster by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
- Control Units -> Information & Communication -> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display -> Initial Start-Up
- When prompted by SDS, install instrument cluster as per WIS documentation (AR54.30-P-6015I)WARNING: The "reading of main odometer" in SDS version 10/05 must be entered in kilometers.NOTE: Instrument clusters can no longer be ordered with mileage. Please consult DTB P-B-54.30/150, dated November 21, 2005, for information regarding odometer mileage setting policy and procedure.
