In order to limit maximum speed on vehicles with a corresponding engine power output, the throttle valve is closed and the quantity of fuel injected is accordingly reduced once a speed of 250 km/h is reached.

The vehicle speed information is received by the ME control unit via CAN from the control unit for traction system (ABS, ASR, ETS or SPS, according to model and equipment).
