Install Repair Bolt

NOTE: During procedures number(s) and letter(s) in parentheses correspond to number(s) and letter(s) inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses is used to point out specific components or movement.
NOTE: The standard bolt (19a) is centered by the bumps (arrows) in the bearing of the torque strut or spring link. Grooves in the repair bolt (19c) permit it to be installed in the bearing on either the right or left side, allowing the torque strut or spring link to be adjusted by a distance of 4 mm to the inside or outside. See Fig 1 .
NOTE: The repair bolt (19c) must not be turned after the torque strut or spring link has been fixed in the bearing. Hand turn the nut until it abuts, but DO NOT tighten yet. Because the rubber mount on the torque strut or spring link should be free to turn when the car is bounced or rocked to settle the suspension. Refer back to step  7 under ADJUSTMENTS under CHECK & ADJUST CAMBER & CASTER AT FRONT AXLE to complete procedure.

When specification are beyond tolerance and repair bolt is called for, proceed with bolt replacement. See Fig 1 -Fig 4 .

  1. Jack up vehicle at the front (the suspension must be fully rebounded). If vehicle is equipped with Active Body Control (ABC), see Fig 2 .
  2. Detach bolted connection on spring link (19a standard bolt and 19b nut).
  3. Detach bolted connection on torque strut (19a standard bolt and 19b nut).
  4. To adjust the camber and caster, the standard bolt (19a) on the torque strut or spring link must be replaced with a repair bolt (19c) and nut (19b). Take note of difference between standard bolt (19a) and replacemrnt bolt (19c). See Fig 4 . Refer back to step  7 under ADJUSTMENTS under CHECK & ADJUST CAMBER & CASTER AT FRONT AXLE to complete procedure.
