COMAND Malfunction
SERVICE INFORMATION
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of COMAND turning on by itself when
- Locking or unlocking the vehicle
- Opening the trunk
- Turning the lights on.
The COMAND unit may be in "production mode". In order to verify if COMAND is in production mode, perform the following steps.
- Make sure headlight switch in "0" position.
- Make sure COMAND is turned off.
- Wait until instrument cluster turns off.
- Turn on the headlights.
- If the COMAND unit turns on after switching on the headlights, the COMAND unit is in production mode and should be replaced.
NOTE:
The production mode is used during manufacturing for testing the units.
