Electric Cooling Fans: Self-Diagnostics: Notes

SLK models are equipped with a Cooling Fan With Integrated Control Unit. Cooling fan control module is integral to cooling fan motor and mounted to radiator fan shroud. Fan control module is OBD II capable, and will set a DTC in memory if a fault is detected. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT) faults are also monitored by the ECM and will set a DTC.

To check for and erase stored DTCs with scan tool. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  .
