Switch on/off behavior, function - GF82.85-P-2006T

MODEL 211.0/2 up to 31.5.06 with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

When the driver's door is opened, the navigation system is automatically activated via the engine compartment CAN (CAN-C). This procedure takes about t = 2 sec. and may be accompanied by barely audible noise from the multinorm drive integrated in the navigation processor. The display in the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) remains switched off. If no status change of "Circ. 15C ON" or "Circ. 15R ON" occurs at the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73), the navigation system remains activated for t = 60 min.

Activating the overall system

Position 1:

When the transmitter key (A8/1) is inserted in the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73), i. e. "Circ. 15C ON".

In this position, only the bus systems are activated for t = 3 min. to speed up the switch-on procedure.

If the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched on using the "ON button (ON/OFF)", the automatic shut-off takes place after t = 30 min.

Position 2:

If the transmitter key (A8/1) is turned to position 1 "Circ. 15R ON" in the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73), the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched on, provided that it was on when the transmitter key (A8/1) was last removed. It remains in operation until the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed again.

The function options are restricted to:

Position 3:

Turning the transmitter key (A8/1) further in the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) to position 2 "Circ. 15 ON" enables all the functions in the vehicle. The system which was active before it was last switched off (e.g. radio) is switched on and the corresponding basic menu is displayed. If the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) was switched off for longer than t = 30 min, a warning menu containing general information on how to operate the system is displayed.

Position 4:

In position 3 "Circ. 15X ON" the engine is started. If a considerable voltage drop occurs while the engine is being started, the system switches itself off during this time, and is switched on again after the on-board electrical system has stabilized.

Characteristics when pressing the ON/OFF button

The radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) can also be switched on with the transmitter key removed (A8/1) by operating the "ON switch (ON/OFF)" at the rotary switch. All MOST functions are then available for 30 minutes. The system switches off automatically once 30 minutes have elapsed. If a shut-off has taken place after t = 30 min, the system can be switched on again by operating the "ON switch (ON/OFF)". The cycle of 30 minutes then starts from the beginning.

Switching-off characteristics via AUTO-ON

If a telephone call or SMS is received, the telecommunications control unit (N112) or the telephone interface (A34/4) is activated during the MOST run-on phase and initiates a wake-up pulse via the MOST. The system components are "woken up". The MOST is ready for operation to provide the necessary functions. Switching off takes place by pressing the "ON button (ON/OFF)" or by removing the transmitter key (A8/1). An active phone call is not interrupted by removing the transmitter key (A8/1). In this case the MOST will switch itself off.

Switch off characteristics

The radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched off when the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed from the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) "Circ. 15C OFF". Then the navigation system run-on time of t = 60 min starts (standby mode). During this period all the important locating parameters are stored. Furthermore, the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) and the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) are always in "standby mode" if the interior CAN (CAN-B) is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage

The central computer of the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) continuously monitors the battery voltage. Depending on the voltage value the system will act as follows:

The battery voltage is 9.5 to 11.5 V (battery warning range):

Battery voltage below 9.5 V (undervoltage)

Procedure for switching on and off in vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go

If the vehicle is started or stopped using the Keyless Go system, the procedure for switching on and off is identical to the procedure for switching on and off when the system is started up again using the transmitter key (A8/1) "Circ. 15 ON/OFF".
