Telephone mode, function - GF82.85-P-2007TC

MODEL 211.0/2 as of 1.3.03

15.03.07 The document has been updated to this date and will no longer be subject to revision.

Telephone operation

The telephone system can be operated as follows:

Function

Following the request via the control panel, the telephone radio signals are transmitted and received with the telephone antenna (A2/22) (up to 30.6.06) or with the telephone antenna (A2/49a1) (as of 1.6.06). These signals are transmitted via the telephone compensator, data (A28/2) to the telephone interface (A34/4). The task of the compensator is to adjust by amplification losses which occur due to the higher transmission frequency of the E-net.

The telephone is illustrated by a symbol, if it is operational, in the display of the radio (A2). In the same way, the reception field strength of the telephone after plugging into the bracket is displayed at the top right

All control signals and useful signals (e.g. sound signals with hands-free system activated) are transmitted via the media-oriented system transport (MOST).

IMPORTANT The portable CTEL (A34/6) requires the telephone interface (A34/4) as an interface for communication with the MOST participants.

The battery of the portable CTEL (A34/6) is charged via the telephone interface (A34/4).

The battery is charged automatically as soon as the CTEL interface (A34/4) is active, and this irrespective of whether the portable CTEL (A34/6) is switched on or off.

The radio (A2) has the following telephone functions:

Telephone variants

The following variants for telephone mode are available:

IMPORTANT The telephone interface (A34/4) is from the same manufacturer as the portable CTEL. It implements the physical connection of the mobile phone to the MOST system as well as the protocol conversion as per the MOST specification. The interface has its own housing.

Hands-free mode

During a phone call it must be possible for the user to hold the conversation via the hands-free system.

For this the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) is located in the inside rearview mirror. From there, the microphone signals are sent directly to the telephone interface (A34/4) where they are digitized and transmitted via the MOST to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).

Once there the signals are processed again and sent to the vehicle's speakers. During a hands-free telephone call the audio source is automatically muted.

SMS text messages

Reading and editing an SMS is only possible via the portable CTEL (A34/6).

Incoming SMS messages are illustrated as mail on the display.

IMPORTANT The volume can be adjusted separately for the telephone mode.
