Location

The rail pressure sensor is screwed into the right rail at the rear.

Task

The rail pressure sensor is used to detect the current rail pressure and send it to the CDI control unit (N3/9).

Function

The rail pressure applied influences the location of a membrane which is fitted with a sensor element. A change in the location of a membrane alters the electrical resistance of the sensor element. This change in resistance causes a voltage signal which is evaluated by the CDI control unit to detect pressure.
