SPS solenoid valve (Y10) open

SPS solenoid valve (Y10) closed

The electronics for actuation of the SPS solenoid valve (Y10) are integrated in the traction system control module (N47). The SPS solenoid valve (Y10) is actuated in pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the current flow decreases and the SPS solenoid valve (Y10) gradually opens the control valve according to a characteristic (K) defined in the traction system control module (N47).

This regulates the oil flow and thus the torque to be applied to the steering wheel. When the SPS solenoid valve (Y10) is actuated with the maximum current (v=0 km/h), the control valve is closed. No oil flows and the minimum steering wheel torque is set (situation for parking).
