ENGINE 113.995 #2 in MODEL 230 up to Model Year 2008
The transmission overload protection protects the shift elements of the automatic transmission (722.6) from excessive thermal stress during load changes in the upper engine speed range.
Engine torque is reduced by briefly retarding the ignition or closing the throttle valve and opening the recirculated air flap during gearshifts.
The ME control unit is supplied with a signal via the CAN data bus by the ETC control unit for this purpose.
The ME control unit controls in line with the performance map, if altering the ignition angle is sufficient or if the throttle valve and recirculated air flap must be retarded.
