Function requirements
- Driver seat normalized
- Easy entry/exit activated in the instrument cluster (A1)
Trigger conditions
Movement of the steering column to the driving position is triggered by:
- Closing driver doors with circuit 15 ON and with closed driver doors, by
- Transmitter key (A8/1) turned from circuit 30 → to circuit 15C
- Transmitter key turned from circuit 15C → to circuit 15R (stage 1 in EIS [EZS] control unit (N73))
- Transmitter key turned from circuit 15R → to circuit 15 (from stage 1 to stage 2 in EIS [EZS] control unit)
The steering column adjusts to the last driving position assigned to the transmitter key if one of the listed trigger conditions is present.
The driver front seat adjustment control unit with memory (N32/1) actuates the steering column discretely.
Abort conditions
Movement to the driving position is aborted under the following conditions:
- Function requirements not fulfilled
- Configuration change in instrument cluster
- Undervoltage or overvoltage
- Manual actuation of driver seat adjustment with memory switch group (S91)
- Manual actuation of memory button 1, 2, 3 switch (S91s14)
- Manual actuation of steering column adjustment switch (S59) (164.1) or steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch (S59/1) (only 164.8 with steering wheel heater, code 443)
- Transmitter key turned from circuit 15 ON to no active circuit both with open and closed driver doors
- Circuit 15 and door is opened
- Defective steering column adjustment Hall sensors
