Function

The steering column can be adjusted by means of the steering column adjustment switch or the steering column adjustment/Steering wheel heater switch (S59/1) (only model 164.8 with code (443) Steering wheel heater). The corresponding adjustment request is transmitted from the steering column module via CAN-B to the driver front seat adjustment control unit with memory.

The driver-side front seat adjustment control unit with memory the actuates discretely the corresponding steering column in/out motor as well as the steering column up/down motor.

If a blockage or defective Hall sensor is detected by the driver front seat adjustment control unit with memory, the adjustment is aborted after 2 s.

Adjustment cannot be performed again in the same direction until ≥ 2 s after the steering column adjustment switch or steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch has been released.

Adjustment in the opposite direction is possible immediately.
