Location

Each shift group is assigned one overlap regulating valve. The 1-2/4-5 overlap regulating valve is located in the valve housing of the shift plate, the overlap regulating valve 2-3 and 3-4 are located in the valve body of the shift plate.

Task

The overlap regulating valve regulates the pressure reduction during a shift phase.

Function

During the shifting phase the pressure in the disengaging shift element is regulated depending on the modulating pressure (engine load) and the pressure in the engaging shift element. The regulated pressure is inversely proportional to the transmission capability of the shift element to be engaged (regulated overlap).
