COMPLAINT
Engine Changes to Limp-Home Mode and/or Has Insufficient Power
CAUSE
Exhaust gas recirculation control
REMEDY
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the engine changes to limp-home mode and/or has insufficient power, please follow the steps below to resolve.
- Read out fault memory of CDI control unit.
- Observe actual values of air mass and specified values of air mass in DAS fault freeze frame data.
- If actual value for the air mass is greater than the specified value in DAS fault freeze frame data for fault code 2355-002, remove and examine the exhaust gas recirculation line.
- Compare the exhaust gas recirculation line from the vehicle with Fig 1 (attached).
- If distorted, replace the exhaust gas recirculation line. Refer to WIS document AR14.10-P-3915GZB - Remove/ Install exhaust manifold (step 12, figure 4) for Model 164 or WIS document AR14.10-P-3915RTB - Remove/ install exhaust manifold (step 12, figure 4) for Model 251.
NOTE:
In Fig 1, the inner tube of the exhaust gas recirculation line is distorted or has contracted inwards. Due to this, the exhaust gas recirculation line is almost completely blocked.
NOTE:
The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair. This information has been generated on August 20, 2007. Please refer to Netstar -> Star TekInfo -> Star Time for the most current labor time allowance.
