The relocking function prevents the vehicle from remaining unlocked, when the remote control key (A8/1) has been actuated erroneously.

After the vehicle is locked with the remote control key (A8/1) waiting time of 40 s is started. When a waiting time has expired the vehicle is locked again if

• a passenger door, trunk lid or the tailgate is opened previously or
• the emergency opening function was triggered or
• the interior central locking switch and the ATA function display (N72/1s6) is actuated or
• the remote control key (A8/1) is inserted in the key opening in the EIS control module (N73).

These functions are actuated by the EIS control module (N73). If the button "Unlock vehicle" is actuated again on the remote control key (A8/1) before the waiting time has expired, the waiting time is reset and then started again.

The relocking function also activates the anti-theft alarm (ATA) code (551a).
