Software Calibration Number (SCN) Code - Engine Control Module

Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the Engine Control Module may not have been coded to current specifications. A Software Calibration Number (SCN) update to the Engine Control Module must be installed in the affected vehicles to correct this condition. Dealers will re-code the Software Calibration Number (SCN) - Engine Control Module at the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 25 vehicles are affected.

PROCEDURE

NOTE:

Use Xentry 05-06/11 with all associated patches or higher.
Follow the steps exactly as described in Xentry.
Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).
Turn off all of vehicle's electrical consumers prior to performing SCN coding of control module.
If you are performing this campaign on a vehicle that also requires the following campaigns: P-SC-2011070001 and P-SC-2011070003 , perform the campaigns in the following order: 1 ^st : this campaign (P-SC-2011070002), 2 ^nd : Update Transmission Control Module Software (P-SC-2011070003 ), last: P-SC-2011070001 (Update Fuel System Control Module Software).

Connect Star Diagnosis to vehicle.
Perform SCN coding in rear MED 17.7 control unit:

Control units / Drive / MED 17.7 / Control unit adaptations / Control unit programming / SCN coding / Follow on-screen instructions.

NOTE:

Perform service work on other vehicles while control module is being SCN coded.
The following allowable labor operation should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair
If you are performing this campaign on a vehicle that also requires the following campaigns: P-SC-2011070001 and P-SC-2011070003 ; you can only claim operation numbers 02-5058 and 02-4762 once.
