Networking of components:

Function prerequisites

Switch on heated rear window

Manually switching off the heated rear window

The heated rear window function can be switched off again at any time by again pressing the rear window defroster switch (N22s1)  at the AAC pushbutton control module (N22)  .

Automatically switching off the heated rear window

Outside temperature t ≥ 5°C.

Automatic switch-off after 6 min  .

Outside temperature t ≤ 5°C up to t 0°C

The ON period is extended by t=30 s in each case for each °C  temperature difference. The maximum extension is t=6 min.,  which equals a temperature of t =-7°C.

Example:  At an outside temperature of 2°C  , the time extension is 3 * 30 seconds  . The heated rear window (R1)  switches off after 7.5 min.  .

Outside temperature t ≤ 0°C up to t -10°C

In addition to the temperature-related  extension, there is also a speed-related extension  . (Refer to table below)

IMPORTANT If the speed changes during the ON period, the extension is calculated from the highest  speed which has been measured during this time.

Vehicle speed (km/h) Time portion t (minutes)
60 1
70 2
80 3
90 4
100 5

If ?? is driven faster than v = 60km/h  during the heating phase, an ON period of t=1 min. is added. The maximum additional ON period is t =5 min.

Outside temperature of t ≤ -10°C

The heated rear window (R1)  remains switched on until an interior temperature of t =5°C  is measured at the in-car temperature sensor (N70b1) in the overhead control panel control module (N70)  .

Data required for the function:

The outside temperature  is measured by the ambient temperature display temperature sensor (B14)  .

The value is read in by the driver SAM control module (N10/10)  and forwarded over the CAN interior  to the rear SAM control module (N10/8)  .

The vehicle speed  is calculated in the SBC control module (A7/3n1)  from the wheel speed signal of the front left wheel speed sensor (L6/1)  and forwarded to the ESP, PML and BAS control module (N47-5)  . The ESP, PML and BAS control module (N47-5)  passes on the wheel speed signal as a message over the CAN engine compartment  to the EIS control module (N73)  and the latter transmits the wheel speed over the CAN interior  to the rear SAM control module (N10/8)  .
