REMEDY
Check the following three points BEFORE replacing LCT/PASS (mbrace®) control module:
- Start Diagnosis session within XENTRY/DAS
If no diagnosis session can be established with the DTC control module (mbrace®), please follow the next steps:
- Ensure your diagnosis tool (XENTRY/DAS) has the latest SW version and all addons installed.
- Ensure that no other root cause (e.g. CAN bus not operative, no power, etc.) unables a diagnosis session.
- In Xentry, you have to select the control module "DTA-mbrace® or TELEAID".
- Depending on the mbrace generation, "DTA-mbrace or TELEAID (N123/4)" is displayed for LCT (mbrace 1), "mbrace-mbrace (N123/4)" is displayed for PASS (mbrace 2). The system automatically recognizes one or the other depending on the model line and model year.
- If no communication can be established a timeout warning error is displayed.
- If you abort the process while communication is being started, the diagnosis tool (XENTRY/DAS) will guide you to the check section. There you will be asked to double check pinning and power feed, plug in/out the device and retry, etc.
- Verify that you can establish a diagnosis session with a known working mbrace® control module from a known good vehicle
- The mbrace® control module can be replaced if any of the following fault codes (DTCs) and preconditions apply:
PASS (mbrace 2):
- B129C00 PASS Telematics Module Internal: It shall lead to a direct replacement
LCT (mbrace 1):
- D000 Control unit Telecommunications is faulty
- D662 Component internal transmitter and receiver unit in module is faulty.
- D667 GPS error. However, if D667 and D669 (CAN overload indication) are both active, this should not trigger a unit replacement. This might be a failure of the Head Unit.
An mbrace® control module replacement is not allowed for any other fault code. Instead, please follow the list of recommended tests/indications in Xentry/DAS. If it is not possible to solve the issue:
- Call your Service Provider Dealer Support with your vehicle information. Explain the issues you are currently facing and request that they assist you with setting up the account properly.
Be prepared to provide the agent with the "Status of failed registration" and "operation condition" you are seeing in Xentry (under Actual Values->Activation Status).
Please notify the Dealer Support BEFORE replacing the control module, so the Dealer support can remove the combination of previous device information.
Check the following four points AFTER replacing LCT/PASS (mbrace®) control module:
- Clear and detailed description of the issue. Some areas that have to be considered:
- Which mbrace® functions are not working properly (internet, remote door lock, i/r-button, etc.)?
- What behavior does the customer describe?
- What happens when the i/r-button will be pushed (do you hear any network announcement)?
- Is it possible to initiate MB apps/the internet browser?
- A Quick test containing the list of active DTCs, and their environment information as per DAS/Xentry. This applies for both LCT and PASS (mbrace 1/mbrace 2).
- For PASS (mbrace2) only: Please include the following parameters from the "Actual Values->Activation Status" menu in Xentry:
- Operating condition: in-service/in-provisioning/out-of-service/transport mode/production mode
- Status of failed registration
- Progress of failed registration: on-going/completed
- Working key:
valid or invalid
additonally for China:
- Data packet User name (SIP Packet Data VPDN)
- EVDO User Name
