	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

	Remove/install
1	Clamp off ground line from battery.		AR54.10-P-0003GZ
	Notes on battery		AH54.10-P-0001-01A
2	Remove right engine mount and remove left engine mount from front axle carrier		AR22.10-P-4330MLJ
3	Remove screws (9) and remove oil cooler thermostat (10) for transmission oil cooling from engine.	Bolt, bracket for thermostat to oil pan	*BA27.55-P-1011-01D
4	Remove screw/bolt (8).	Screw, oil cooler oil line to oil pan	*BA27.55-P-1003-01D
5	Remove screw (6) and remove heat shield (7).
6	Remove screws (5) of the starter (M1).	Bolt, starter to crankcase/transmission	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
7	Turn starter (M1) to the left, tilt downward and lay down on the front axle carrier.
8	Remove contact protection (3) from starter (M1).
9	Remove circuit 50 electric line (4) from starter (M1).	Installation:  Ensure that electrical wiring harness is routed properly. Otherwise, damage to the electrical wiring harness and the starter (M1) will occur.
		Nut, connection for terminal designation 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01J
10	Remove circuit 30 electric line (2) from starter (M1).	Installation:  Ensure that electrical wiring harness is routed properly. Otherwise, damage to the electrical wiring harness and the starter (M1) will occur.
		Nut, connection for terminal designation 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01J
11	Remove starter (M1) between the front axle carrier and the body.
	Check
12	Check pinion of the starter (M1) for damage and wear.	If the starter (M1) is reused.
		If damage or wear was detected: ↓ Replace starter (M1).
13	Check ring gear on drive plate for wear and damage.	Rotate engine at center Bolt, crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation.
		Socket wrench bit If wear and damage were detected, ↓ Replace drive plate.	Fig 2

14	Install in the reverse order.
